About InteSpring

Within the three branches of development of InteSpring (Exoskeletons/ Wearables, Gravity-compensation and Consultancy), the energy neutral design is the unifying factor. Every system that can perform a repetitive/ cyclical movement, can be balanced in such a way that the system becomes more efficient, more economic, quicker and safer. We develop and build systems that exert specific force characteristics in different directions and we are expert in balancing technologies. By combining existing technologies (gas springs, torsion springs, etc) with 'smart' materials (composites, rubber, etc.) and mechanisms, it is possible to process these force characteristics in compact, lightweight systems. This enables many new innovative applications, like supporting people through an exoskeleton. For example, we develop a foot orthosis for rehabilitation purposes and have built the Exobuddy for soldiers, which reduces the experienced load of a heavy backpack with more than 50%. The Laevo is an example of an exoskeleton that is already available for commercial use. The Laevo evolved from the X-Arm project started by InteSpring in December 2009 as a grant project. At the end of 2013, the project was completed with good result and the first exoskeleton specifically designed for working in a bent-over position was a fact. To launch the Laevo-exoskeleton on the market, the company “Laevo” was founded on the 4th of September 2013 as a sister company of InteSpring.
