About IOCS, Inter- Ocean-Climate School
The Inter- Ocean-Climate School (IOCS), a unit of the Ocean Open University, France, provides short courses in ocean, coast, climate and geoethics literacy. Please subscribe to our YT channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtyV1e6Us-1enV-5b6xFZ5A The theme of the next School, in May-June 2021, is “The Trilogy of Ocean, Coast and Climate: The Urgency and Exigency of Literacy”. The School is of interest to organisations that and people who have a stake in planning and acting for the future of the oceans, especially as they are being shaped and impacted by accelerating global warming and climate change. We will work at the intersection or nexus of oceans, climate, geoethics and humanity. Stakeholders may include: Researchers, decision makers, citizens, scientists, students, activists, environmental organisations, NGOs, scientific institutions, local and central government agencies and their representatives, business and industry, local politicians, health, tourism, utilities, military, transport and all those affected by the impact of climate change on the oceans. The School is based on knowledge and facts, and involves experiential learning, interaction and human/social skills; it is an exploratorium. The School provides a unique opportunity to participate in and learn about different, but complementary, methodologies for working on the complex web of issues and dilemmas related to the ocean-climate-geoethics-human nexus. Methods include film, hands-on activities, brainstorming, values clarification, group work, consensus building, foresight, participatory simulation, learning games, debriefing, good practices. All sessions are conducted in a spirit of sharing, open-mindedness, creativity and respect. For more information, please visit our website: https://oceansclimate.wixsite.com/oceansclimate
