About Iptron Technology
Iptron Technology CC specialises in the Measurement and Control of Tension in Conveyor Belts. This activity was started by Ian Plunkett under Numeritech (Pty) Ltd in 1983 and transferred to Iptron in 1991. Conveyor Tension Control has matured into a highly specialised field not just in terms of Control Philosophy but also in terms of mechanical design and performance. Iptron’s first EGT-2000 Automatic Tension Controller and the 6TH-120 Tension Load Cell were developed in 1982. Approximately 150 of these systems were supplied. The system was completely redesigned with modern technology to become the incredibly reliable (25 years) EGT-2420 in 1995; approximately 600 of the EGT-2420 Controllers have been supplied around the world. Iptron designed and manufactured all the Electronics and Load Cells in-house. These were supplied to our, then distributor, who installed them in their own Winch Panels. From 2000 we commenced assembling our own Winch Panels to overcome quality problems.
