IWECON has achieved manufactured local content* of over 50% and aims on increasing it's local content to 85% by the end of Phase 1 (manufacturing capability of 100 units/annum). *local content values exclude foundation COMPONENT MANUFACTURING: IWECON is establishing the basis of it's manufacturing capabilities for casting components, specifically for ROTOR HUBS and MAIN FRAMES, with the intention of delivering high quality, internationally certified casting components and thus offering the advantage of increased local content through locally manufactured components for turbines imported to South Africa (DTI condition). IWECON's feasibility study has shown that it can manufacture casting components locally with costs comparative to China.
