About Island Girls Rock!

At Island Girls Rock, we’re rooted in six guiding pillars: creativity, wellness, sustainability, joy, leadership, and community. Each one reflects our commitment to nurturing intergenerational connection, cultural care, and Caribbean girlhood and womanhood in all its richness. Whether through mentorship, art, storytelling, or collective healing, these values shape everything we create and how we show up for ourselves and each other. Island Girls Rock: Our Pillars Creativity We honour creativity as both heritage and healing woven into how we tell stories, make space, build futures, and imagine the world differently. From traditional crafts to emerging artforms, we support girls and women to explore and share what’s already within them. Wellness Wellness, for us, is communal, cultural, and caring. It’s about tending to our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health together. We create spaces that affirm rest, grounding, and balance as birthrights, not luxuries. Sustainability Sustainability is a way of living and loving our land, our culture, and each other. We encourage conscious choices and creative solutions that protect our environment and honour ancestral knowledge. Joy Joy is resistance, medicine, and celebration. It’s not something extra, it’s part of how we move through the world. We centre joy in our gatherings, our mentorship, our making, and our dreaming. Leadership We nurture leadership that looks like listening, care, collaboration, courage, and curiosity. From the quiet leaders to the bold ones, we believe in creating space for girls and women to shape their communities in ways that feel true to them. Community Island Girls Rock is, at its core, a community. Intergenerational, Caribbean, and grounded in shared care.
