About ITRA: International Technology Rental Association
The ITRA (International Technology Rental Association) is the world’s largest technology rental association. With a primary presence in North America, member companies are scattered across 4 continents and range in size from smaller organizations (single locations, few employees) to larger ones (dozen of offices hundreds/thousands of employees). Membership is granted to “organizations”, not individuals. Sometimes the primary contact person for a member company is an “owner”, sometimes it’s a President, General Manager or Customer Service Reps, etc. At the beginning, our “common bond” initially was IT (information technology) rental products. However, today’s member companies now rent, install and support everything from AV, Projection, Lighting, Kiosks, Communication, to Office Equipment rentals. Member companies usually deploy their technology equipment and gear into temporary or indefinite term environments where “buying” is not a preferred option, either due to economics, policy, logistics, the need for labor or a turnkey solution………..or simply because its not their core competency. So why do we have an association? The primary reasons are as follows: Geography: While members may sell and close business, the product or labor required at the event may not be located where it is needed. Products: While a member may sell business, he may not own some or even a majority of the equipment he needs to rent. Inventory: Even if it’s a “local deal” and the rental company owns equipment, that company maybe have less than 800 available for rent. The Power of Membership: Its simple, the primary value from ITRA membership comes from meeting and developing business relationships that allow members to either sell or fulfill more rental business with more products and services in more locations than if they were a stand alone company.
