Caregivers of all ages, ethnicities, genders and socio-economic levels are represented in the vast pool of 43.5 million who provided unpaid care to an adult or child in the past 12 months (2015 NAC & AARP Public Policy Report). It’s said the average caregiver is a 49-year-old woman, but this once invisible army also includes men, along with those who are as young as five and as old as 100 plus. There are wealthy, healthy and celebrity caregivers while some of us suffer financially, physically, psychologically and feel we have no voice or presence. Stress, for far too many of us, is the order of the day, while frustration and guilt are constantly at the forefront.
