About Iwi Collective Partnership
Iwi Collective Partnership is a collaboration of 19 like-minded Maori fishing entities from throughout the North Island of New Zealand. Managing 16,000 metric tonnes of annual commercial fishing rights to 123 New Zealand fish species, Iwi Collective Partnership is New Zealand’s largest tribal collective. While you might be surprised at the reference to "traditional commercial fisheries", it's a little known fact that our tribes have traded seafood for over 200 years, a fact recorded in the diaries of Captain James Cook (1773). Established in 2010, the collective operates via commercial partnerships with like-minded fishing companies. Through the partner brands of Moana New Zealand, Sealord, Port Nicholson Fisheries & Pelco NZ, seafood products derived from our quota are exported to premium global markets. Premium products include lobster (crayfish), scampi, paua (abalone) as well as an extensive range of white flesh fish. Iwi Collective Partnership is 100% tribally owned, governed & managed. All proceeds are directed exclusively to social, cultural & health initiatives for the well-being of tribal communities. Our 15 Iwi tribal members are Ngā Rauru Kiitahi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Manawa, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Ruanui, Taranaki Iwi, Ngāitai, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Whakatohea, Te Arawa, Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga a Mahaki & Ngāti Whare.
