The founder of J-CAT Safety Products identified a major safety hazard that had in the past been largely overlooked in the construction industry. Although OSHA has mandated there to be impalement protection over exposed metal brackets, the industry solution has largely been some sort of makeshift wooden box or plastic bucket. These “solutions” do not satisfy OSHA’s mandate, making your job site noncompliant and liable in the event of an unfortunate accident. Even worse, these solutions do not protect against impalement. Due to the lack of viable options, J-CAT saw an opportunity and created the J-CAP™. J-CAT currently has two products available, both rugged and reusable. The SG1000 -OA is made from state-of-the-art plastic which houses a steel plate! This has met all of CAL/OSHA’s rigorous testing standards and was certified for above grade impalement protection. It is brightly colored and easily seen while in use on the construction site. The second product is the Brush Guard J-CAP™. This was designed for the homeowners and construction projects that do not require the above grade impalement protection, as it does not house the steel plate making it a lower cost solution while still providing the same protection. The Brush Guard J-CAP™ is brightly colored so that it can easily be seen to help prevent any accidental slips and trips.
