Our Story …. In 2005 as a result of a divorce, I found myself homeless. With the help of the Highland Council, I was put into homeless accommodation then eventually given a small flat in what could be seen as a rough area. At the time I felt very vulnerable and felt the urge to change the situation. After a few years I managed to get myself on the housing ladder. I am now settled in my ideal home. My experience gave me the drive to try and provide housing for others. We purchased our first BTL property in 2022 and during the vetting process it was apparent there was a real need for private rental properties throughout the highlands. The first few days of advertising the property saw over 30 applicants. This was heartbreaking for me as I had been in their shoes. We only had one property to give to one applicant. This has driven me to grow the business to provide fair value safe and secure accommodation to many. We are still in the early stages and we are growing steadily. We generally only buy properties that have been on the market for a while. We believe we should not profit by competing with first time buyers or other genuine home buyers. We like to purchase properties that need updating, we can then carry out full refurbishments and let them out to long term tenants. As part of out growth, as well as being landlords and property investors, my partner has trained and qualified as a letting agent. This allows us to let out properties on behalf of other landlords. This is done through our subsidiary company Jacks Group. My strong work ethic came from my parents who have always supported and believed in me. Sadly my dad passed away a few years ago, however I wanted the family name to live on, hence the name Jacks Homes.
