About Jacksonville Illinois Public Library
The Jacksonville, Illinois, Public Library (JPL) is a historic Carnegie library. Opened in 1903, the JPL is a city tax-supported library serving a community of more than 18,000 residents. In addition to the director, the library has a staff of 5 full-time and 7 part-time employees. The JPL is guided by a 9-member board of trustees. The JPL serves both adults and children. In addition to standard library services, program offerings include a Concert Under the Dome music series, regular technology presentations, author talks and a summer reading program for children. An active Friends of the Library group supports the work of the JPL.
