About James Myers Professional Corporation

James is an avid lover of accounting, mathematics, geometry, philosophy, and the complicated inter-relationships between them all. He writes frequently about the origins of the double-entry accounting system. Going back to the days of Da Vinci and Pacioli, James explores how accounting became what we now know it to be. Going deeper still, James uncovers how the ingenious system developed by Pacioli over 500 years ago, is still subconsciously affecting how we view money, accounting and how we do business. This is a continually unfolding story, which explores all the key players through history, how they’ve made an impact and the implications on how you live your life, which you may not even be aware of. James Myers received his CPA designation in 1992. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in 1989 and trained at Coopers & Lybrand (predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers) where he served as an audit manager in 1993-1994. From 1994-1995 James worked as a manager at a firm that served small business clients, and in 1995 he established his own practice that joined Myers Tsiofas Norheim LLP in 1997. James lectured in advanced undergraduate accounting at the University of Toronto until 2012, and has served as a director for a number of not-for-profit organizations. Beyond accounting, James’ interests include geometry, mathematics, and philosophy.
