About James Wilby Holdings
James Wilby Holdings Limited is the parent company for two subsidiaries; James Wilby Limited est. 1977 and James Wilby Logistics Limited est. 2022. James Wilby (Successors) Limited was formed in 1977 when the previous family, the Turner Family, decided to disband their historic transport group of companies as the foundations of their Yorkshire-wide operation was based around transporting coal from mine to industry which was in demise. By that point in time, most of the coal mines had been closed and only one of the companies had diversified to embrace the introduction of the motorway system. That company was James Wilby of Dewsbury and Pontefract. Since the early 1900s, the Turner family had held four operations across Yorkshire in the North, West, and East of the Region, transporting coal directly from the mines to industry via rail, barge, horse and heavy goods vehicles (HGV). The Turner Family also acted as coal merchants within their local communities, the final coal merchants to close was James Wilby in 2021. As a specialist haulier, transporting steel, concrete, timber and modular units, the closure of its coal operation was a strategic Board decision as part of the company's pledge towards a more sustainable future. James Wilby Limited is a long standing member of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and has been a part of the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) for several years. In December 2022, a new company was created, James Wilby Logistics Limited. This is where the Pallet Network, Warehousing and Regional Distribution is operated from, including the SNAP facilities offering safe and secure HGV parking. James Wilby is a founding shareholder of Pallet Track, celebrating 20 years in 2024 as one of the original depots in the Pallet Network. James Wilby Holdings Limited holds the companies' Operator License, and holds the Land and Properties of the operations' four-acre site in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.
