About Janis Pruitt-Hamm Psychotherapist

I’m a licensed psychotherapist in Stevens County with nearly 40 years of experience. I specialize in working with couples and relationship issues; however I also work with individuals of all ages. After several decades of counseling with thousands of people I have learned to tailor my therapy to the unique needs and characteristics of each client or couple, utilizing theory and techniques from more than 200 therapeutic "approaches". As it turns out, research shows that this "eclectic" style of counseling, an experienced therapist and a good "therapist-client fit" are the most important predictors of success in therapy. About Me: I have lived in Kettle Falls since 1994. Before that I practiced counseling in Seattle, Eatonville and Kirkland, WA. In addition to counseling, I also offer mediation and collaborative law facilitation services. I received my BA from University of Washington and my MA in Psychology from Antioch West in Seattle, WA. I have had continuing education training in: Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress, Culture Shock, Conflict Resolution, EMDR, Re-evalution Counseling, Parenting, ADHD, Drug and Alcohol Recovery, Couples, Sexual Distress, Adolescents and Teens, Play Therapy, and Mood Disorders.
