Japanese Technical Translators (JTT) is the Japanese specialty agency. Unlike giant agencies, we focus on what we really know. Managing Director, George Leslie, is one of only about 50 translators in the US certified for Japanese to English (J>E) translation. Our team members are all veteran translators. Many specialize in a specific sector, such as contracts, patents, financial, medical, electronics, etc., so you get accurate work. For J>E, typical team members studied Japanese at university, then spent many years in Japan, learning by immersion. Many worked for Japanese companies and know “business Japanese” first hand. For E>J translations, we use native Japanese team members who have lived in the US for many years. Their translations sound perfectly natural. We give clients cost-effective solutions. George had a long business career, beginning with a Masters from the MIT Sloan Management School, and gets involved with each project. We use technology where appropriate—e.g. for managing human-created glossaries, but never use machine translation. For J<>E it can be disastrous. We are the ideal size to help you—small enough to have low overhead and offer fair prices, but large enough to be able to put 10, 20, or even more translators on a big project. Here's how we help: If you are a law firm handling a US-Japan lawsuit, we can structure a tiered approach, using lower-level people for doc review, veterans for translation, and then, for critical docs that will go to court, a final review/certification. If you are a US firm just entering Japan, we can translate your website, presentations, and product literature. If you are well-established, we can even do market research by searching/translating the Japanese web and social media to see what your customers are saying.
