About Jerusalism

We envision a thriving Israeli literature becoming more diverse and influential through its expression in English. Jerusalism exists: - To organize & lead the community of people interested in Israeli literature in English; - To create opportunities that foster deeper connections between Israeli culture & English language literature - To showcase the quality & diversity of Israeli literary talent in English. Jerusalism accomplishes these goals through organizing events, publishing, and building relationships. We have hosted many literary events over the years. Whether it’s a reading, workshop, or creative meet-up, we always encourage a socially engaging atmosphere in which we showcase local talent and inspire general participation. Feel free to get in touch, and — better yet — come join us for one of the events! Additionally, we have printed chapbooks featuring work by writers participating in the events, and we run the Jerusalism Review, which publishes materials related to the events. Overall, Jerusalism is the meeting place of various groups: non-native English writers (Hebrew, Arabic, and beyond) looking to expand their horizons, native English speaking immigrants striking roots in Israel, and English-loving foreigners traveling through Israel.
