Jessica Anderson is a community advocate, not a politician. She understands the real struggles of families in Virginia, particularly in the 71st District, because she experiences them every day. Jessica is committed to addressing flaws in the system to meet the needs of many while ensuring every voice is heard. A lifelong Virginian, Jessica grew up in Newport News and is now raising her family in Williamsburg/James City County. She is a married mother of three daughters and stepmother to two children. Jessica earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Thomas Nelson Community College in 2007 while working full-time at a local dental practice and caring for her growing family. After seven years in the dental field, she became a stay-at-home mom for two years. In 2014, during a difficult divorce, Jessica struggled to provide for her daughters, experiencing firsthand the importance of social safety nets like EBT and FAMIS. These programs helped her keep her family afloat during a challenging period, which fueled her desire to serve as House Delegate for the 71st District. Jessica remarried in 2017, meeting her husband David through their involvement in the local running community. The couple lives in Williamsburg/James City County with two of their five children and several pets. Their adult children are pursuing higher education at Virginia colleges. In 2018, Jessica transitioned to a part-time role as a receptionist at a local elementary school, which provided her with valuable insight into the public education system and its impact on students, educators, and families. Jessica Anderson’s life experiences and commitment to her community drive her passion to serve and advocate for the needs of the 71st District .
