About Jewish Genetic Diseases Center of Greater Phoenix
The Jewish Genetic Diseases Center of Greater Phoenix is dedicated to increasing awareness of devastating disorders that are more prevalent among Ashkenazi/Eastern European Jews and providing opportunities for affordable carrier testing in the greater Phoenix community. Nearly one of every five Jewish individuals of Ashkenazi/Eastern European descent is a carrier for a Jewish genetic disease. These disorders include diseases that are fatal in childhood and others associated with chronic debility and premature death in adulthood. There are no curative treatments for these disorders. With carrier screening and genetic counseling, these diseases are preventable. We currently offer a panel of 18 Jewish genetic tests. The cost for these tests is $65 for individuals ages 18-to-45; $325 for individuals over age 45, and $275 for those who have tested with us before who wish to update their tests. The usual cost of these tests can exceed $3,000 in a private physician's office. Call for non-resident rates and additional information. Results are completely confidential. We are also dedicated to BRCA education, to address the needs of the nearly 1:40 women of Ashkenazi/Eastern European descent who have a higher risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
