About JobPath
Founded by Pima County Interfaith Council and local business leaders in 1998 and incorporated in 2004 as a public, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation, JobPath is a workforce development program that provides opportunities for underserved Pima County residents to achieve financial independence through improved education and training in local, high-demand areas that lead to high wage careers. JobPath recruits and sponsors adults in education and training programs which allow them to significantly increase their income and help address the skilled workforce shortages in Tucson / Pima County, Arizona. The majority of JobPath participants attend Pima Community College (PCC) in an associate degree or college level Certification for Direct Employment programs. Participants in the trades are enrolled in state-recognized apprenticeship programs. Based on a proven, innovative model, JobPath provides a wide range of support services to assist participants in balancing work, family obligations and education – including the development of team building and critical thinking skills. JobPath’s career counselors offer a range of support services including mentoring, career counseling, wrap-around case management, peer support facilitation, and financial assistance on a case-by-case basis so participants can focus on their education. JobPath has made a significant impact in Pima County, with over 1,500 graduates in its history! Additionally, according to a recent long-term study of 2011-2015 JobPath graduates, almost 80% have remained in Pima County. JobPath has demonstrated that social and economic benefits can be achieved through long-term training for those who otherwise would not have the opportunity. For graduates, income levels rise, self-confidence increases, and children have positive role models for advanced education. For the community, public assistance costs decrease, employers’ workforce needs are met, and the entire economy is strengthened.
