Mayor Martinez’s defense was a veritable marathon that took a successful appeal and three jury trials before federal prosecutors decided to give up, and the Mayor ended up the winner. Mr. Quinon also won the acquittal of the Chief of Staff of a Miami-Dade County Commissioner in the highly publicized Miami Port case, as well as a not guilty verdict in an internationally publicized federal case of an individual charged in a conspiracy to assassinate a head of state, the acquittal of a doctor charged with Medicare fraud while working at a clinic, and many other not guilty verdicts in varied cases.
