About Joseph's House & Shelter
Joseph’s House & Shelter’s mission is to provide non-judgmental services to end homelessness. It is a simple mission but takes a lot of effort and care from our Shelter staff and volunteers. In the last 12 months we have given support and shelter to 958 men, women, and children. Over 50% of those coming into our shelter, our organization were able to resettle them into permanent housing. This number represents the life transforming work that was done by our shelter staff. What our organization aims to do is target the most vulnerable and the most in need of our care. The programs we offer to support this population consist of our Street Outreach Program, Permanent Supportive Housing, Emergency Family Shelter, and our Bethune Program. The Street Outreach Team served over 84 men and women who were sleeping out in the streets, in abounded buildings, parks, and other places that could be dangerous and unsafe to their health. Among the 49 clients who exited our program during the year, our outreach team assisted 25 clients enabling them to obtain permanent housing. Our Permanent Supportive Housing program for single adults allowed us to provide 58 single adults with safe, affordable, harm-reduction housing in the last year. This program currently targets potential tenants who are chronically homeless adults who suffer with severe mental illness and who lack other housing resources in the county. Last year the Family Shelter directly provided emergency shelter for 136 people in 39 families, including 80 children less than 18 years of age.
