About Kaarnamaa Institute of Art and Visual Culture
Kaarnamaa is a research institute of art history and criticism that provides scholarly publications, academic courses, and public programs about modern art and visual culture. Since 2014, the institute has been committed to promoting scholarship about the transnational art of the twenty-first century and alternative narratives of modern art through multiple platforms, including our main publication, Kaarnamaa; A Journal of Art History and Criticism, a series of lectures and panels, which in tandem with Kaarnamaa’s Oral History and Archives of Iranian Art initiative seeks to generate, preserve, and make available primary sources about the history of Iranian art; and finally, the institute’s higher education program which reimagines contemporary scholarship.
