About Kaboni
Kaboni have been developing new businesses, energy projects and companies in Africa for more than 20 years. We set up new operations from scratch for companies and help create and drive new projects, we provide training and mentoring, and energy and sustainable development policy advice to companies, NGO's and governments. If its difficult to do, we'll find a way to make it work. Kaboni Energy Ltd (Kaboni Energy SARL in Burundi) is our energy services and mini-grid development company, committed to delivering sustainable and innovative energy and development solutions in Africa. We are building an electricity services company in Burundi based mainly on solar PV and LFP battery mini-grids. We aim to connect more than 30,000 households and businesses by leveraging our community focused and holistic systems approach, developed over many years working across Africa and Europe. A cornerstone of this is our Community Energy Cooperative (CEC) model, which enables the energy systems and networks we build, to be transferred to the people they serve, within 15 years. Our vision: A fairer world where everybody has access to renewable energy and the sustainable development opportunities and equality that it delivers. Our mission: To empower people with sustainable energy by creating commercially viable energy business ecosystems with associated productive use enterprises. Our energy development business, Kaboni Energy Limited (Kaboni Energy SARL in Burundi), is building mini-grids in Burundi using our Community Energy Cooperative (CEC) model. With this model Kaboni sells the energy systems and networks we build to a cooperative we set up with the community, that is owned by the customers it serves. The target period for the asset transfer is 15 years.
