Kaffea X was created as a solution to the main challenge facing the specialty coffee industry, i.e., commercial and economic fairness; and pricing transparency is at its core. The specialty coffee industry operates without price discovery mechanisms, often resulting in larger players setting prices that do not reflect the real market dynamics, mostly to the disadvantage of the smaller players, including the farmers of all sizes. The industry also lacks a universal product identification taxonomy for easy classification and comparison of the hundreds of varieties of specialty coffee and their origins. In a market where information is asymmetric and where visibility is limited to an already volatile ‘C’ basis, any attempt to address economic and trade fairness will always be a temporary fix such as the expensive and complex individual Fair-Trade Certification. One of the many costs of lack of transparency is bureaucracy that yields questionable and short-lived results. We will provide clear, real-time bid and offer pricing insights as well as related market and risk data, to level the playing field and allow all who wish to transparently buy and sell spot specialty coffee to be a part of this future.
