About Kalamazoo Emergency Associates
Kalamazoo Emergency Associates (KEA) is a professional corporation of emergency physicians that was organized in 1980 in order to provide emergency physician services at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. KEA currently staffs the following emergency departments in southwestern Michigan: Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan Borgess Pipp Health Center, Plainwell, Michigan Woodbridge Immediate Care Center, Portage, Michigan Oaklawn Hospital, Marshall, Michigan KEA's goal is to be an innovative & active participant in the development & provision of emergency & ambulatory medical services while providing a professional environment for its physicians that promotes physician retention & professional development. Expansion into the coverage of regional hospitals in 1985 created an opportunity to provide services in institutions with widely varying emergency department patient volumes & resources. This expansion also provided the opportunity for KEA physicians to participate in a variety of clinical & administrative activities. KEA was involved in the development & subsequent operation of an accredited emergency medicine residency program in Kalamazoo. This program provides many opportunities for our physicians to be involved in academic emergency medicine & is a valued source of well trained emergency physicians for southwestern Michigan. KEA physicians are active participants in EMS activities with leadership roles in local & regional medical control authorities as well as EMS medical direction and education. We actively recruit from a variety of resources, provide centralized physician scheduling for all sites, physician backup capability for vacations & illnesses, & coordinate a variety of physician employee benefits for each of our physicians. One hundred percent of KEA physicians are Board Certified, Board Eligible or Qualified in Emergency Medicine or other primary care specialties.
