About Kamloops Naturalist Club

The Kamloops Naturalist Club (KNC) is a registered charity serving Kamloops, BC, and operates on unceded and traditional Secwépemc territory. We are one of over 50 local nature clubs in BC, and are affiliated with the provincial parent organization, BC Nature, the Federation of British Columbia Naturalists. The mission of the club is, “To Know Nature and Keep It Worth Knowing.” Our purpose is to foster an awareness, appreciation, and understanding of our natural environment. We promote the wise and sustainable use of the environment in ways that will maintain it for future generations. We have a dual mandate of: -Advocating on behalf of nature -Creating opportunities for people to meaningfully engage with and learn from nature Activities include hosting a monthly nature themed lecture, organizing a variety of ecosystem field trips throughout the year, supporting a nature kids’ group, public education on bats, a bluebird nesting box initiative, and running a youth environmental leadership training program, the 'Next Generation Naturalists’. KNC's 'Next Generation Naturalists' (Next Gen) program helps provide youth with skill development, career building, and meaningful volunteer opportunities, with an emphasis on developing a personal environmental philosophy.
