About Kansas City Girls Preparatory Academy
KC Girls Prep welcomed its inaugural class of fifth-grade students in the fall of 2019, and are the only single-gender, open-enrollment charter public school in the state of Missouri. When met with the pandemic in our seventh month of operation, we pivoted to provide everything from Internet access and digital devices for remote learning, to daily food kits (not just for our scholars, but also their siblings) and the social and emotional support they and their families required during those challenging days. In the 2024-25 school year, we proudly serve 120 fifth through eighth-grade scholars, and two dozen in our high school Kansas City Girls Leadership Institute program. Our mission extends beyond academic success. KC Girls Prep focuses on ensuring students become leaders for real change. Our inclusive approach to learning honors the diversity of young women’s cultural, intellectual, physical, and social and emotional backgrounds. Our vision is a feminist, anti-racist community that cultivates change-makers who support and challenge one another in true sisterhood.
