About Kanyana Wildlife
What is Kanyana? Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting and caring for some of Western Australia’s most threatened native wildlife. At our facility located in the Perth Hills, Kanyana Wildlife rehabilitates sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wildlife, and undertakes broad-based training and education for community and corporate groups. Breeding Kanyana is successfully breeding bilbies at our Lesmurdie facility and participates in nation-wide gene exchange programs. Our animals are sent around Australia for release, or to other facilities to diversify the breeding populations of these threatened species. Education Through outreach visits, tours, interactive displays and training, Kanyana strives to further the public’s knowledge and appreciation of wildlife, and increase understanding about the need to conserve native habitats. Learn more about our Discovery Centre experiences, Nocturnal Tours and Fauna First Aid courses on our website. Research Research conducted at Kanyana, and in collaborative studies with Murdoch and Curtin Universities, has significantly contributed to the knowledge of native animal health, captive breeding and husbandry.
