成立於2007年9月20日的高明貨櫃碼頭為高雄港洲際貨櫃中心第一期(第六貨櫃中心) 50年特許經營權BOT計畫，於2007年9月28日與高雄港務局簽訂「高雄港洲際貨櫃中心第一期計畫興建及營運契約」（以下簡稱六櫃），負責六櫃50年之興建與營運。六櫃總共有四席碼頭，碼頭法線總長1500公尺，縱深475公尺，碼頭水深16公尺，為高雄港少數可靠泊萬TEU級以上貨櫃輪之碼頭，且地理位置臨近高雄二港口，船舶靠泊方便。高明貨櫃碼頭公司以高效率、高品質為目標，在碼頭規格、作業機具及櫃場設施均秉持安全、效率及節能之原則，打造首屈一指的高科技碼頭，為客戶提供更優質的服務。高明公司為專業之碼頭經營業者，為了提供客戶高品質、高效率的服務，採用可雙吊40呎之橋式起重機及半自動化之門式機，以提昇櫃場之整體裝卸效率，在管制站方面，採用自動化管制站系統，並搭配RFID及AIOCR等技術，以加速貨櫃交提之速度。此外，高明公司響應環保，部分設施設置太陽能光電板，達到節能減碳之效果。
