About Karan Beef
Since 1974, the Karan family have expanded operations to become the largest beef producer in Africa. Today, we accommodate up to 210 000 head of cattle at the Heidelberg Feedlot, Nigel farm and our multiple holding stations. We've grown and transformed our Heidelberg farm south of Johannesburg into a 2 330-hectare fully integrated business unit. We recently expanded our operation by purchasing the old Manjoh Ranch farm, now known as Karan Beef Nigel. Here we grow crops that we use in our feed and part of the farm is used for our cattle backgrounding programme. Our world-class Abattoir in Balfour Mpumalanga is used exclusively for the streamlined processing of animals into a wide range of beef products. It boasts a fully automated, state-of-the-art cold storage facility with an automatic carton freezer (ACF), freezer store, chiller store, and airlock store. Our Sales and Distribution Centre in Johannesburg features extensive cold storage and freezer facilities. The facility plays a vital role in completing the supply chain and securing the Karan Beef Group's position as the largest fully integrated beef production organisation in Africa.
