About KARIBIA

KARIBIA, which means “to be close” in Swahili, is a non-profit NGO that was born with the commitment to be with the most disadvantaged population of Kigoma, Tanzania, building the foundations for a society that manages its own transversal and sustainable development and, ultimately, is responsible for its future. To do this, we will rely on the support, strengthening and training of local counterparts in the execution of cooperation projects so that they have their own means to improve the living conditions of their communities. Because it is our philosophy and strategy to build flexible and evolving alliances with local counterparts and actors (governmental or non-governmental), who are those who are in a position to identify, initiate, implement and monitor the projects, and thus become responsible for their own processes of change. Likewise, we intend to contribute to achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) with the interrelation and establishment of connections between the different areas of action and priority sectors: education, entrepreneurship, food security and health; in all its dimensions, as a perfect mechanism for impact, not only in achieving the established goals, but also in the growth and empowerment of communities and their people, and consequently their community development. For KARIBIA, supporting local initiatives is both a means and an end in itself, because in this way we ensure the relevance, sustainability and efficiency of the projects. We are looking for supporters and collaborators to join our cause and maximize our impact.
