About KARL & FABER Kunstauktionen
Karl & Faber is one of the most renowned auction houses in Germany and can look back on over 90 years of corporate success. Our company is distinguished by our boundless passion for art, our professional competence and diligence, our experts’ market knowledge and a reliable, personalised service. This is the basis on which we advise you and dedicate ourselves to your success in the international art market. Our worldwide network of renowned art experts in museums, research centres and foundations enables us — in the interest of consignors and buyers — to offer high quality works. Our international contacts allow us to put forward art objects directly to specific private collectors, museums and qualified dealers in the whole world. We uphold our company’s traditions and, at the same time, are interested in integrating new developments on the market into our range of services – all for your benefit. Karl & Faber was founded in Munich in 1923, by the art historian Georg Karl and the German philologist Curt von Faber du Faur. An intense collaboration with American collectors began when Georg Karl’s son Louis took over the company in 1971. In 2003, Rupert Keim and his family acquired the company. The range of contemporary art on offer was expanded and the networks around the different domains were increased. The new management keeps up the company traditions and organizes important auctions, such a parts of the collection Marvin and Janet Fishman (2010) which became the most successful single-collection auction of German art of the 1920s and 30s.
