About Kasigro

Kasigro serves as a business accelerator and community builder for informal businesses in South African townships. Together with the local entrepreneurs, the Kasigro aims to unlock this potential by kickstarting the flywheel: Increased profits for entrepreneurs lead to higher employment rates and enable more children to attend school. In addition to the entrepreneurs' income, the employees' and, in the future, the children's income also increases, resulting in higher purchasing power for individuals and, subsequently, greater profits for all entrepreneurs. Kasigro is built upon two pillars: Business Education and Community Building. Through our customized business education programs, we provide hands-on training in financial management, marketing, procurement, and other subjects. Our objective is to equip local entrepreneurs with the essential practical (!) skills for growth and long-term success. Kasigro firmly believes in the power of community to amplify the impact of our programs and demonstrate the strength of collective action and solidarity. We strive to connect entrepreneurs through local networks, fostering dynamic collaboration and support. The success of the program is driven by local people on the ground. We learn from the entrepreneurs how to successfully run an informal business in the township. Our role is to facilitate knowledge sharing and institutionalize this learning. This project serves as an invaluable learning opportunity for the Kasigro team. We operate in South Africa and start with a focus on hair salon businesses. Once we have mastered this business area, we will use the blueprint to expand into other sectors such as fashion, retail, and more.
