About Kelowna Museums Society

The Kelowna Museum Society (KMS) offers public programs, exhibitions, educational initiatives for all ages, and research facilities, alongside volunteer opportunities. Guided by its Constitution, KMS acquires, preserves, and displays artifacts encompassing geological, biological, paleontological, cultural, social, and technological significance, aiming to enhance public access through exhibitions and programs. Our mandate “to acquire, conserve, research, communicate and exhibit the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment” is accomplished by providing the public with educational exhibitions and programs that foster personal participation, stimulate curiosity, and engage the senses with the cultures, histories, and possibilities of the Okanagan region. We aim to inspire the community to be alive with its history – connecting people and place. KMS is responsible for overseeing the Okanagan Heritage Museum, the Okanagan Military Museum, the Okanagan Wine and Orchard Museum at the Historic Laurel Packinghouse, the Kelowna Public Archives, the Vince Bezeau Military Library and Archives, the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame, and the Ursula Surtees Regional Conservation Lab.
