About KG's Kids

Kylen Granson plays for the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League. From his early high school playing days to his time as SMU Mustang, he's had a desire to do more and give back to community youth. KG's Kids is committed to helping to make sure that students have books to read, not only at school but also at home. It all started with punishment when I was in first grade. My drive to play video games was strong, and this drive inevitably would get me into trouble. Testing how far I would go to play video games so my mom challenged me by implementing a new rule. This new rule was a simple one: every minute that I read a book, I could earn an equal amount of time playing video games. I started begrudgingly, taking about fifteen minutes to read a single chapter book page. But the more I read, something began to click in my brain, and I enjoyed reading. Soon, I looked forward to reading more than I looked forward to playing video games. My love for reading became my new driving force. Some of my teachers would not allow me to have books at my desk because I would read while the lessons were ongoing. So, why exactly did I fall in love with the stories between the pages? Whenever you read, you automatically expand upon the knowledge you already have as no two books are the same. They contain different story arcs, styles, tones, themes and are diverse even within the same genre. There are so many choices to choose from that it's nearly impossible to pick a book as there are so many excellent choices to get lost in words. KG's Kids is a 501 (c) (3) organization
