About Kids Haven

Kids Haven e.V. (registered association) was founded in 2002 by former volunteers of Kids Haven, a home for street children in Benoni, South Africa. Kids Haven takes care for approx. 200 children aged 3-18. Next to providing food and shelter, the project has a strong focus on the children's individual development in school and extracurricular activities. The aim is to strenghten their education and job-related skills but also to build up their self esteem and help them to find their place in life. We support the project through awareness- and fundraising activities in Germany and by providing ideas for development opportunities. Our focus is on measures to help the older kids to prepare for their life outside of Kids Haven, since this is a very difficult transition. Many of our members are former volunteers, and we are in close contact with the home's management to ensure that the money and effort end up at the right places.
