About Kids In Crisis Intervention Team (KIC-IT)
Founded in 2011, KIC-IT (Kids in Crisis Intervention Team) addresses the critical need for homeless youth services in Johnson County. We provide individualized support to youth ages 16-25, helping them break the cycle of homelessness and achieve sustainable life change through a holistic approach that includes housing, education, financial, and material support. In 2021, we launched the KIC(k) Start Transitional Housing Program, offering safe and structured living environments in a county with no existing shelters or transitional housing options. Our Youth Ally for Homeless Education and Prevention (YAHEP) program, introduced in 2022, is a school-based initiative that ensures at-risk students have the support, resources, and skills needed to stay in school, graduate, and build a plan for financial and housing stability. Our Foundation First Client Assistance Program provides critical financial support, while the Pathway Pantry offers material assistance such as clothing, hygiene products, and household essentials. KIC-IT is committed to building safe, healthy, and stable communities through strategic partnerships and impactful programming that empower youth to thrive. By fostering healthy relationships, setting goals, and connecting youth to critical resources, we guide them toward independence and long-term success.
