About Kimia Analytics
Kimia has developed the first-ever mobile testing platform for rapid onsite quantification of total PFAS, fluorine, and other chemical elements. PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) are emerging contaminants that have wildly polluted the environment. While legacy technologies can detect only up to 40 out of over 10,000 PFAS, we have pioneered the Hybrid ICP-3Q-MS: the world’s first compact, mobile, ultra-sensitive mass spectrometer that quantifies the total PFAS load in samples through our proprietary fluorine testing method in alignment with US-EPA's goal in this area. We have several patents, know-how, and trade-secrets. With significant savings in operational costs and sample preparation time compared to legacy methods, our technology reduces the cost and time of analysis per sample by a factor of 10 enabling testing labs to be able to cope with the overwhelming demand for PFAS testing. Our technology addresses a TAM of over $21 billion, with an estimated SOM of $1 billion. It can be utilized at military bases and airports, where the use of aqueous film-forming firefighting foams containing PFAS has caused significant water contamination. Additional applications include monitoring landfill leachate, paper mills, wastewater treatment plants, land and urban runoff, and industries such as textile waterproofing, metal finishing and plating, carpet and furniture production, and more. Our team has a century of combined experience in commercializing innovative technologies, with 3 successful companies, 90+ patents, and 500+ publications in our portfolio. Our platform aims to be the first to address significant data gaps and technological barriers in tackling the global PFAS crisis.
