About Kimura Capital
We provide financing solutions for SME borrowers to provide returns for our investors. At Kimura Capital we manage a commodities trade finance fund. We launched in Dec 2016. Basel capital regulations, coupled with a retraction from the space by banks, left hundreds of millions of dollars of quality commodity deals unfunded. Unable to access traditional sources of finance, the SME market, the starting point for global trade, has a funding requirement estimated by the ADB at around US$1.5 trillion. As signatories to the UN principles of responsible investing we use access to capital as a lever for positive change. We see trade finance as a triple win: • Buyers win as they get to dictate their payment terms. Supermarkets etc tend to enforce a minimum of 120 days to pay invoices. • Producers benefit as they receive working capital to cover salaries and costs of production up front, financed by capital that they can no longer access from banks. • Our investors gain as their returns are generated by our management of loans into the cycle.
