About King Edward VII and Queen Mary School
KEQMS is one of the leading Independent Schools in the North West, with an outstanding campus situated on the Fylde coast and excellent facilities for learning and teaching. The Lytham Schools Foundation dates back to a flood disaster at Lytham in 1719 when a relief fund was established. Almost 200 years later the Trustees of this fund decided to establish a grammar school for the education of boys. King Edward VII School was opened in September 1908. It was followed by the building of Queen Mary School in 1930 to provide a similar education for girls. The Foundation's motto, ‘Sublimis ab unda', means "raised from the wave."
