About King's College, Taunton
King's College, Taunton is an independent co-educational boarding and day school in Somerset with over 480 boys and girls aged 13-18 years. Pupils work hard at King’s. We follow a traditional curriculum, strong on rigour and the difficult academic subjects, taught by teachers chosen for their deep knowledge of the subject and their infectious enthusiasm. They instill a natural love of learning and, as a result, 98% of pupils go on to university, including Oxford and Cambridge and other international universities, and we have consistently high standards of academic achievement. The facilities are first-class, with ambitious plans to extend them further still in the coming years. All this in a school with a status as one of the sports powerhouses of the West Country, the school enjoys a national reputation for sporting excellence in a number of different games. It also provides well for a wide range of other activities such as music and drama. The boarding at King’s is excellent, and pupils enjoy a vibrant and active social life. The school’s strong boarding ethos is central. The fact that so many pupils and staff live on the site creates a strong sense of community, while the other great benefit is the extra time boarding offers: time for relaxation, friendship, practicing the many activities available – music, sport, Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and performing arts. The school is small enough to be friendly and yet large enough to compete nationally. Great emphasis is placed on developing the individual: kindness, consideration, courtesy and respect for one another. The outstanding modern facilities and stunning locations ensure that children enjoy a challenging all-round education in a progressive, secure and stimulating environment. www.kings-taunton.co.uk
