Founded by Keynon Lake in 2012, KLTS provides comprehensive youth development, leadership, and career exposure programs. Keynon, a former social worker with a deep passion for community advocacy, created KLTS to ensure that young people—especially those from underserved communities—have access to guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for success. He continues to serve as CEO, leading KLTS with a commitment to fostering growth, accountability, and leadership in the next generation. KLTS offers two core programs: My Daddy Taught Me That (MDTMT) for young men and My Sistah Taught Me That (MSTMT) for young women. Open to students in grades 6-12, both programs focus on helping youth navigate adolescence, build confidence, and develop strong decision-making skills. MDTMT Jr. serves boys in elementary school. Through educational workshops, hands-on experiences, and exposure to career pathways, KLTS mentors empower participants to become responsible, engaged members of their communities. Our team of Community Health Workers specialize in violence prevention. The inspiration for MDTMT came from Keynon’s father, Bennie Lake, a dedicated youth advocate. His impact sparked Keynon’s vision to create a program where young people—regardless of their circumstances—could experience the guidance and support of positive role models. KLTS continues to play a vital role in reducing youth exposure to crime, gangs, and drugs, transforming young people into the leaders of tomorrow.
