About Klinic Kids

Klinic Kids is a 501c3 non-profit organization that channels the power of sports to educate children on mental health and wellness. We bring together professionals across industries and disciplines to foster community development through our Klinic Kids basketball programs. In 2023 we are running programs in New York City and the greater Tri-State area. We are looking to expand to multiple regions across the United States in 2024. We partner with the area's best coaches and trainers to provide professional-level basketball training in a supportive environment. Our instructors place an intentional focus on health and wellness to ensure we provide a rich, lasting and impactful experience for every child. Our program was designed by some of the top educators, administrators and researchers in New York City. Our wellness and research lead, Dr. Sireen Irsheid, is a postdoctoral fellow at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. Sireen received her BA in Developmental Psychology from DePaul University, her Masters in Social Work from Columbia University, and her PhD from the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice at the University of Chicago. Klinic Kids was founded by Kashif "Kash" Hameed, a former professional basketball player and member of Iona College's Basketball Hall of Fame. Kash served for seven years as Principal of Harlem Children’s Zone Promise Academy, a charter school that is proud to have achieved 100% high school graduation rates for students in a historically underperforming district during his tenure. Klinic Kids ties in to The Klinic Pro-Am, where professional ballplayers and celebrities come together to host an 8-team, single elimination adult basketball tournament for a $50k cash prize. These events are created to connect inspiring individuals with local communities in order to support local businesses and the development of youth leadership.
