KLS was created with the need of our clients in mind to solve technical challenges in any power system application, whether in utilities, industrial, or the energy sector. Our expert engineers have many years of experience and designations in multiple jurisdictions, and have been helping clients with complex technical needs all over North America. These include, for example, technical compliance with various NERC standards, whether it involves systems modelling and validation in the field, or validating control and protection settings as per the latest criteria. In the ever-evolving field of renewable generation, our engineers have been there from the earlier days of the standards development by NERC and the ISOs, to the present day with the standards and requirements for modelling getting more mature and complex, and employ this knowledge and experience to seamlessly advance interconnection and generator modelling requirements. Our engineers’ experience in this field has been recognized by the industry regulators as they have been engaged in workshops for standards development. Similarly, our engineers are experts in protection coordination, arc flash studies, insulation coordination, harmonic analysis, electromagnetic transient (EMT, i.e. PSCAD), and other types of power system studies, and can help our clients in small to highly complex systems. We employ powerful simulation software as warranted by the application, or as specified by an authority such as the ISO or the utility, with expertise to deliver results in the most effective and efficient fashion. These include widely used software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, etc., to less known software as required by project-specific tasks.
