In 2005, Paul Knight, along with his son, Jeffrey, opened Knight and Son Transportation, Inc., located in Brundidge, AL. Paul, a second generation trucker, began working on tractors in his dad's shop when he was just 13 and, just a few years later, he began his driving career behind the wheel of a truck that was owned by his father. Prior to beginning Knight & Son, Paul owned several trucks that he leased to Great Wide, and Jeffrey was dispatching for a local company after graduating from Troy University. The two decided to begin their own operation and, a little over 6 years ago, the regional, dry van operation began. Almost a month after starting their own business, they were joined by Paul's daughter Candy, to take charge of accounting and HR. Jeffrey's wife, Erikka was hired to handle the dispatching with Ricky Free, rounding off this family operation. In 2008, Paul decided to put his background in mechanics to good use by opening Brudidge Truck Repair. His orginal intent was to just service Knight & Son's equipment; however, his shop is located just around the corner from the Wal-Mart distribution center, so Paul began meeting the service needs of the many tractors and trailers that pass through each day.
