About Knox County Child Advocacy Center
Welcome! The Knox County CAC is a nonprofit agency that works with law enforcement, social workers and prosecutors to help children feared to be sexually or physically abused. We receive referrals from law enforcement or DCFS only. Children who come to the CAC receive services like free counseling, case management and court advocacy. The CAC also works with schools and community groups on prevention education to help stop child abuse in our communities in Knox, Warren and Henderson Counties. Specialized trauma counseling: If your child comes to the CAC, discloses abuse, and suffers from trauma symptoms, the CAC can refer the child to free specialized trauma counseling on a short-term basis to help with those symptoms. Court Advocacy: If your child has been referred to the CAC and a criminal case is filed, it can be difficult for the family to attend the court hearings. Our office tracks case progress and keeps families informed. Case Management: If your child has been referred the CAC, our Case Manager offers assistance to all of our families. Services include referrals with partner agencies and follow-up on the case. Forensic Interviews: The CAC receives referrals from DCFS and law enforcement only. We do not take referrals from any other offices or individuals. Interviews are conducted by specially trained, trauma-informed staff. Follow us on Instagram! @cac_knoxcounty
