George Walter Knox first set up in practice in the late 1860s and opened a London Office in the 1870s. He was a founder member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and became its President in 1896. Lionel Cuthbert Cropper, originally Knox’s articled clerk, was admitted to partnership in 1887 and, as an author, wrote many of the early standard texts on Accountancy and Bookkeeping.
