About Knudsen Suppliers Portugal
Knudsen Suppliers has its roots back to 1882. It all started when Captain Didrik Andreas Knudsen entered Lisbon with his Norwegian ship, the Professor Mohr. While in port, his shipchandler Mr. Terry - an Englishman with whom the Capitan was well acquainted - passed away and Capitan Knudsen was requested to assist Mr. Terry's business, the result of which led to the founding of a company under the name of "Knudsen & Terry" in December 1882. By 1895 Company's name was changed to D.A Knudsen due to expanded activities including Agency of Ships, Stevedoring and Average Agents. When Simon Knudsen, Capitan Knudsen's son-in-law joined this firm as a partner in 1902 the style was changed again, to "D.A. Knudsen & Co." In 1990, the ship supply department of "D.A. Knudsen & Co." led to a new associated company: "Knudsen Shipchandlers Fornecedor de Navios S.A." So far the Group has been managed by five generations of the same family, and this Norwegian management has always taken care that the North European drive is present in our activities. In the year 2007 company changed its name to: "Knudsen Suppliers Portugal S.A." in order to expand its business field to other areas besides vessels. Our 132 year old history forms the foundation of our present success, striving for full satisfaction of our client needs.
