About KodiakCare

At KodiakCare, we love dogs and their people. KodiakCare saves the lives of dogs by providing funding for critical veterinary care to families who lack financial means. KodiakCare is a non-profit organization founded by Glenn and Nancy Shapiro in honor of their dog, Kodiak — a sweet Bernese mountain dog with giant paws and a bigger heart. Kodiak experienced multiple medical challenges over the years, but the Shapiro family was fortunate enough to have the necessary funds to prolong his life for many years. Understanding that not everyone is financially able to similarly provide care for their dogs, they founded KodiakCare to come to the rescue. KodiakCare partners with dog owners and animal hospitals to provide funding for life-saving pet care, like surgery or chemotherapy. The families we serve lack financial means to pay for critical veterinary services. These families can turn to KodiakCare for financial help. KodiakCare currently works with hospitals in the greater Boston and Chicago areas. If you are interested in joining us in this work, we are accepting donations! You can help bring pups down the road of recovery while giving families the gift of time and new, sweet memories with their dog.
