About KOOP Architects

KOOP, founded in 2013 by Y. Burak Dolu, is a multidisciplinary design and architecture company that emphasizes collective work and collaboration across various fields such as urban design, architecture, conservation/restoration, graphic design, and museology. We stand out for our integrative approach, often partnering with professionals, other offices, NGOs, and diverse disciplines to produce innovative solutions. KOOP’s project portfolio spans a wide range of domains, including the restoration and transformation of historical buildings, museum and exhibition design, and the creation of cultural and social centers. Our works also include designing public spaces, residential spaces, offices, restaurants and others. Each project involves teams from various specialties, ensuring that all aspects of design, construction, and execution are well-coordinated. One of KOOP’s core philosophies is the exploration of both old and new buildings, as well as public spaces. We particularly invested in transforming existing structures and developing museums within historical contexts. We emphasize understanding the essence of a 'place' and its memory, striving to make this memory tangible and impactful through contemporary interventions. For each project, based on its complexity and specific requirements, we assemble teams from various disciplines, which we refer to as co-operatives. These teams may consist of companies, individuals, or organizations from different fields of engineering, art, and design. Additionally, depending on the project's scope, we establish scientific advisory boards for each project. KOOP’s work has garnered significant attention, having been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications both in Turkey and internationally. Our contributions to the field have also earned us various awards, recognizing our innovative and thoughtful approach to design, architecture and restoration.
